The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Gran Fondo World Series is a series of UCI-sanctioned races held all over the world. Tour de Bintan is one of the only 3 races in Asia and 27 worldwide where participants can obtain their ticket for the official UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in different age groups. The top 20% in each age group at Tour de Bintan’s 17km Individual Time Trial and Gran Fondo Classic race qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, where the champions are awarded with the coveted rainbow jersey.
The UCI Gran Fondo World Championship will crown the new UCI World Champions in road racing and the time-trial in Whistler, Canada on 9-12 September 2020.

How to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship:
The top 3 winners of an official age category always qualify (up to 65+). Additional age groups (70+, 75+) are only split from the 65+ category if more than 6 riders over 70, 75 etc register to create an additional age group, that can then have separate results and qualification spots.
Already hosting North American’s largest Gran Fondo event, the resort town of Whistler will welcome the 2020 Gran Fondo World Championships. The ride offers beautiful landscapes and a clear, traffic-free passage over the picturesque Lions Gate Bridge followed by a challenging climb to the mountain resort of Whistler.
